Federation, Domestic Carpenter Gothic
No. 55 (previously was no. 101) Glyde street is a single storey cottage constructed in timber framing, weatherboard and fibrous cement cladding with a hipped corrugated iron roof. It is a simple expression of the Federation Bungalow style. The front elevation is asymmetrically planned with an entry porch that is off centre. The facade features a full width bullnosed roofed verandah supported on timber posts with a decorative timber frieze. The front wall has been modified to accommodate a small addition. The front addition is flanked by windows.

1928 Funeral. 1928 Obituary. Mrs. Elizabeth Laurie, widow of the late Mr. John Donaldson Laurie, died on June 2 at East Fremantle at the age of 58 years. Mrs. Laurie, who was born in Victoria, was well known and highly respected in the East Fremantle district, where she had resided for over 30 years. She had been in ill-health for the last five years. The funeral cortege moved from the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. H. Jackson, 101 Glyde-street, East Fremantle… The chief mourners were Mr. J. Laurie (son), Mesdames G. Esmond, H. Jackson, and J. Langoulant (daughters), Mrs. J. Donovan (sister), Mr. W. Watson (brother)... The pall-bearers were Messrs. C. Doig (president), J. Dolan (captain) and J. McCabe (secretary, East Fremantle Football Club), L. Day and W. Rose (North Fremantle Football Club, Fremantle Suburban Association), J. O'Loughlan, E. Jackson, and J. M'Cleary. (reference)
