Inter-War Bungalow w Federation / Arts & Crafts Influences
No 29 Oakover Street is a single storey brick and tuck-pointed brick and rendered brick house with a hipped and gable tiled roof. It is a fine expression of the Inter-War Bungalow style. It is asymmetrically composed with a thrust gable bay and a part width return hip roofed verandah. The verandah is supported on timber posts with post brackets. The gable bay features a set of casement windows under a tiled awning. There is a central door and hopper light flanked by a set of casement windows. Lower walls are face brick and upper walls are rendered. The roofscape features a rendered chimney and finials.
The place retains its form and most of its details.

1934 This Week’s Winning Letter. A Holiday in Northam. 29 Oakover-street, East Fremantle. Dear Auntie Kitty,— I have been on a visit to the country, and spent an enjoyable holiday at Northam. On the way we saw National Park and all Its beauty. As we were nearing the tunnel we put the windows up to keep the dust from getting in. When we arrived at Chidlows we had refreshments, and the train waited there for ten minutes. As soon as we left Chidlows we saw rabbits running about in the paddocks. At Northam a taxi was waiting to take us out to the corner of Irishtown-road. As soon as we got there we had tea, and then my two cousins and myself went to bed. We were very glad to get to bed because the train journey is very tiring. The next morning we went mushrooming, but did not find any. Mother, Jean, Valda, grandma and I went to town, which was two-mile walk. It seemed rather funny after Fremantle, to see the quiet place. The following day we went up on a hill and looked down and saw the river with the shadows of the trees in the water. It looked beautiful. We went to a farm to get some butter, and stayed there all day. On Saturday we went to the pictures. I remain, yours sincerely, Mavis Sweetman. (reference)
